This is a very nice park. A bit small, but very clean and lots of great dogs. I met both big dogs and small dogs and all were very friendly, except one that tried to hump me :( Well, I am just so darn cute. Looks like there is also an area outside the off-leash zone where people do let their dogs run to chase a ball or flying objects. Not really my cup of tea, but my sister Chili loves this type of thing

If I could give 3 1/2 paws I would, because it really is a tail of 2 parks here. The off-leash portion itself is pretty good with some room to play, but not really any room to run. There were LOTS of other dogs there of all kinds, so the excellent for socializing, if that is what you are into, Me, I am more into running and retrieving...a ball, a stick, or whatever a human can throw. So, for that part of the park I give 3 paws up, but then there is nirvana, which is the unofficial off-leash area just outside the fenced area. It's a baseball diamond that doubles as the best chuckit area a dog can find. All grass for my fleet paws and other fast dogs to challenge me. They can only challenge, because event at 8 I can still beat them! This is a great park to check out if you are in the area, because there is something for all of us.

A very good park to visit and enjoy with your dog. Likely one of the cleanest in the city, you can use the fenced in off-leash park, or (as long as your dog is not a flight risk) the open grass field nextdoor. My dog (Roo) can really run, and has a ton of energy to expel, and prefers the open versus enclose area - I suspect like any animal, being free and in the wild is a innate feeling for dogs, Note: The City of Toronto authorities frequently crack down and ticket owners whose dogs run free; however, this is only in the summer time. Tip: they drive right onto the field off King Street, with camera in hand for any humans/dogs who try to flee the scene. I suggest keeping a close eye during summer months, from approx May through August. Just steps from my backdoor, I frequent this park with my dog off leash in the field, daily, and I've never been fined. That said, I encourage owners to take their chances and enjoy South Stanley Park!
